Request a video call (scammers avoid these), reverse image search their photos, be suspicious of model-perfect images, verify their claimed profession, and never send money to someone you haven't met in person regardless of their story.

Your feelings are real even if the person isn't. Stop all financial transfers immediately, document everything, cut contact, report to FTC and the platform, and consider talking to a counselor. Many victims struggle because the emotional manipulation was genuine on their end.
